Time and time again, we read articles encouraging women to act like men in order to break into the boys’ club that is the work place. They tell us to lower our voices to sound more authoritative, hide our feelings to not seem “emotional,” and dress, well, less feminine.

It’s time to stop trying to fit in and start trying to change the workplace instead. Stop trying to secure your place in the boys club, and instead start forming your squad. Having like-minded women in your corner during career ups and downs makes a huge impact. Women helping women is what will close the gender achievement gap — just ask LOLA, Bumble, TheSkimm, or Ellevest.
