Time and time again, we read articles encouraging women to act like men in order to break into the boys’ club that is the work place. They tell us to lower our voices to sound more authoritative, hide our feelings to not seem “emotional,” and dress, well, less feminine.
Does any of this sound familiar?
It’s time to stop trying to fit in and start trying to change the workplace instead. Stop trying to secure your place in the boys club, and instead start forming your squad. Having like-minded women in your corner during career ups and downs makes a huge impact. Women helping women is what will close the gender achievement gap — just ask LOLA, Bumble, TheSkimm, or Ellevest.

It’s your squad that will stand up for you when the you feel shot down; It’s your squad that will advocate for you when you’re gunning for that promotion; It’s your squad that will lead you to success and help you feel supported no matter what life throws your way.
Ellevate Network’s community of women is global. Their ideas are abundant, and they are eager to share them. Whether it’s through articles, webinars, events, podcasts, or Squads, the Ellevate community pushes its members to success — and always has their back.
As Indra Nooyi, CEO of PepsiCo, once said, “The glass ceiling will go away when women help other women break through that ceiling.”
